Thandiwe Newton Speaks On Her Zimbabwean Origins
Thandiwe Newton a prime-time Emmy Award-winning actress told Hot Seat host Violet Gonda that she has Zimbabwean origins as her mother is from Manicaland, Zimbabwe.
Asked about changing her name from Thandie to Thandiwe, she said she was not changing it but she was restoring it. She also said she used to be shy about her name when she was young.
The Hollywood star who is currently on the cover of the UK Vogue Magazine (May) has featured in many romantic movies and high-octane dramas including Beloved, Good Deeds, Mission Impossible 2 and is currently starring in the HBO science-fiction series Westworld.
Thandiwe has also been using her social media platforms to champion human rights causes in Zimbabwe and many welcome her powerful voice.
Thandiwe believes that transformation in Zimbabwe will come from within the Southern African country.
