ZANU PF Finance Secretary and Acting Political Commissar, Patrick Chinamasa, was involved in an accident just after Rusape on Saturday after he allegedly rammed into a truck carrying scrap metal.
NewsDay reported ZANU PF sources as saying the accident happened around 6:45 pm at the 12-kilometre peg after Rusape, before the tollgate.
Chinamasa, however, did not incur any serious injury but was reportedly complaining of chest pains.
He was taken to Rusape Hospital but was transferred to a private hospital in Harare. The NewsDay source said:
It’s true comrade Chinamasa was involved in an accident at the 12-kilometre peg after Rusape, before tollgate.
He was rushed to Rusape Hospital and transferred to Harare as he was complaining of chest pains.
ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairman Mike Madiro was among party officials who rushed to see Chinamasa after the accident.
Efforts by the publication to get a comment from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) about the accident were fruitless as police declined to comment.
