• Wind Gusts with a predominantly south-westerly airflow and later turns south-easterly.

WHAT TO DO: • Keep warm; ensure that vulnerable members of society (e.g. young children, the elderly and persons who are ill) are adequately dressed. Stay indoors wherever possible.

• The use of brazier or open fire, to keep warm, should be done in a well-ventilated room to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

• Consult local certified health practitioners for better advice on respiratory-related illnesses (e.g. dry coughs, colds and flu or asthma).

• Employ frost mitigation measures that suit your particular crop and area. Seek advice from your local Agritex Officer for better information.

NB: While clouds may affect a few provinces, the decrease in daytime temperatures will be noted in all parts of the country

HOW?: A relatively cold and dry south-westerly airflow is expected to enter the country through the southern provinces of Matabeleland South and Masvingo on Friday 23 July 2021. It is expected to decrease the daytime temperatures of most areas in these two provinces to between 18 and 20 ° C. On Saturday 24 July, the winds should become south-easterly and relatively moist. This should result in cloudy, drizzly and cold conditions over Manicaland, Masvingo and Matabeleland South Provinces. These gloomy conditions should spread further north by Sunday to cover the southern part of Mashonaland East, southern parts of the Midlands, Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan Provinces as well. It is anticipated to become warmer and less cloudy by Monday afternoon.
