Marondera Couple Secretly Bury Daughter (1) Along Riverbank
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested a Marondera couple suspected of murdering their one-year-old baby on Sunday last week and secretly buried her along the Ruzawi River.
According to the police, the husband aged 41, and his wife, aged 20, fought whilst the child was strapped on her mother’s back.
The baby fell sick after the fistfight and it is suspected that she could have been hit during the scuffle.
The couple took the child to a local clinic before going to a traditional healer before she passed away.
The parents then secretly buried the baby on the river’s banks. Police have ordered the exhumation of the child so that a postmortem can be conducted. The ZRP said:
Police in Marondera are investigating a case of suspected murder, which occurred in Cherutombo, on 06/08/21, where a couple (20 and 41) secretly buried their daughter (one year) along Ruzawi River.
The duo fought whilst the child was strapped to the woman’s back on 01/08/21 and the child became sick afterwards.
The parents took her to a local clinic before going to a traditional healer and she died.
Police received information on the secret burial and exhumed the body for post mortem.
