Kadewere Pays Tribute To Late Football Legend George Shaya
Olympique Lyonnais and Warriors striker Tinotenda Kadewere has paid tribute to the late Dynamos legend George Shaya and thanked him for the “wise words” he shared with him on his birthday.
In a post on Twitter, the 25-year-old former Prince Edward High School pupil said Shaya was an inspiration to youths who are now football legends in their own right. Said Kadewere:
Baba George Shaya we celebrate your life, the way you paved and hope you gave to all the youths some have become soccer legends too.
FeedbackThank you for the encouragement, love, support and wise words you shared on my birthday. Good night Mastermind our legend.
Affectionately known as “The Mastermind,” the five-time Soccer Star of the Year died in Harare yesterday, at the age of 77.
Shaya had battled diabetes and was also diagnosed with dementia, a condition associated with the decline in brain functioning, which has been affecting a number of former professional footballers.
