South African Caught With Cocaine Sentenced To 10 Years In Zim Prison

A South African, Shiela Khumalo, who was caught in Zimbabwe trafficking cocaine, was today sentenced to an effective 10 years in prison. 2 years of the sentence were suspended.
Khumalo was caught in possession of cocaine worth over ZWL$7 million, with 60 plastic sachets of the drug in her intestines in May 2021. She was on her way from Brazil to South Africa. She allegedly excreted 58 sachets of the drug while in police custody at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
Khumalo was arrested following a tip and was found with 975 grammes of cocaine that she had swallowed.
