ZESA: Safety Precautions During The Rainy Reason, Power Cuts Alert

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of ZESA, the local power utility has announced a planned power supply interruption in some areas in Harare. ZETDC also announced precautionary measures that individuals can take during the rainy season. Pindula News presents the statement.

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (7ETDC) would like to advise its valued customers in Harare Region that there would be a power supply interruption on Wednesday 20 October 2021 from 0600 hours to 1800 hours for the purpose of carrying out critical maintenance works.

During this period, electricity will not be available in the following areas: Msasa Industrial area: Parts of George drive, TelOne, Phillips, Blue Ribbon Foods, Fidelity Printers, Hino Toyota, parts of Coronation Avenue, parts of Summerdale walk and Ivydale walk. Greendale: parts of Kennedy drive, parts of Queen Elizabeth road, Courtney Selous School, parts of court road, The Palms and Greendale fire station.
Customers are advised to treat all circuits as LIVE during this period as power may be restored without notice.

The inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS DURING THE RAINY SEASON

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) would like to advise its valued customers to take all the necessary precautions and measures in the use of electricity and its infrastructure to protect lives during the rainy season.

All customers are urged to observe the following guidelines and safety measures to avoid loss of life and damage to property:

  1.  Avoid getting into contact with electricity infrastructure, especially substations, poles and power cables, whether dangling or not,
  2. Avoid touching any downed power lines and report such occurrences to the nearest ZETDC Customer Service Centre,
  3. Do not touch electrical equipment or appliances when wet, with wet hands or when standing in water,
  4. Avoid getting into flooded, submerged and flowing water as there is the danger of getting into contact with electrical cables and getting electrocuted,
  5. Do not lean against electrical poles, cables and any other related materials and equipment as that would lead to loss of life,
  6. Turn off power at the mains when gadgets are not in use,
  7. Use surge protectors to guard your electrical gadgets against damage due to lightning strikes and unplug all electrical gadgets and
  8. When it is raining, do not use any metal sinks, showers and tubs as they can cause electrocution.
