The ruling ZANU PF has called upon Zimbabweans to be united and have one voice on sanctions imposed on the country at the turn of the millennium. The party also said despite the existence of the sanctions, the government has made strides to transform the country. Pindula News presents the party’s statement.
STATEMENT ON ILLEGAL SANCTIONS AGAINST OUR NATION
ZANU PF joins the People of Zimbabwe, SADC, the AU and His Excellency, the President Cde ED Mnangagwa and the People of Zimbabwe, in calling for the unconditional removal of illegal sanctions on Nation-Zimbabwe which are hurting ordinary Zimbabweans.
As we mark this special day set out by SADC in solidarity with our people, ZANU PF applauds the decision of the United Nations to send a Special Rapporteur, Ms Alane Douhan to investigate the impact of sanctions on the economic, social, political and human rights situation in the country. ZANU PF and the generality of the People of Zimbabwe will continue to organise themselves and tell the world how much these illegal economic sanctions, have caused untold suffering to our people for decades now.
We call upon all Zimbabweans, to remain united, focused and speak with one voice on the issue of sanctions. We are aware of those who continue to collaborate with those who imposed sanctions on our people. Such elements are clearly anti-people and anti-Zimbabwean.
The global and regional solidarity which we continue to receive from SADC, AU, the International Community, progressive nations and eminent personalities strengthen our resolve to continue to resist these illegal sanctions at the same time working out a formula to change our people’s fortunes. The People of Zimbabwe will always cherish that solidarity. The Second Republic led by our Visionary Leader, the President and First Secretary Cde ED Mnangagwa embraced the reality of these sanctions and our economy has been adjusted to operate in this harsh environment, leveraging on our natural resources. Despite these heinous sanctions, we are one of the leading nations in terms of vaccinating our people against covid19 without any financial support from global financial institutions. Despite sanctions, we have achieved food security through the Pfumvudza Farming Program. Despite sanctions, our government has revolutionised our roads system and stabilised our currency.
The ZANU PF Government continue to register more and more developmental strides in every sector. This is a clear demonstration of the capacity of our people and leadership and with sanctions removed, we are ready to double our efforts to transform our nation into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
Finally, we reiterate our call for the unconditional removal of the US-EU illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe and her people, for our nation and people are not an enemy to any but friend to all.
