Recently, there have been price increases in mobile data tariffs by all operators in Zimbabwe, Econet, NetOne, Telecel. Even the home WiFi providers like ZOL, TelOne, and Powertel have been increasing their tariffs.
This has made accessing news and updates on the internet harder for a lot of people, impossible even for others.
However, a new mobile app by Pindula has made things easier, providing Zimbabweans a way to read news on the internet even when they don’t have data.
The app only allows Econet subscribers to use it without data at the moment. However, Pindula has said that it is busy working to make the service available to everyone in Zimbabwe.
The Android app can be downloaded from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.zw.pindula.news
Commenting on the app, one user, Charles Singine, said:
Really enjoyed this great platform, it gives you full access either with internet connection or not. Please would you work on international news, we need them too.
Said another user called Tsitsi:
Great platform. App has a good and clear interaction page and clear news without ads popping up. A relief for most Zimbabweans. Thank you.
The mobile app has already been downloaded by at least 5,000 Zimbabweans within just 2 months of launch. It has an average rating of 4.7 stars.
