At the launch of the party at Bronte Hotel in Harare this week, the party executive was seen chanting slogans mainly in Shona and English prompting the Political Science professor to ask “kuhambe njani [what happened]”. Pindula News presents Moyo’s post on Twitter:
Yebo Citizen @Welshman_Ncube, kanti kuhambe njani lapha Citizen? [what happened here Citizen] Ama slogans ashotile: isiNdebele sisele ngaphi Prof? [Some slogans are missing: where is the Ndebele slogan Prof?]. When it’s not inclusive, it’s not national! #BeingZimbabwean
The Citizens’ Coalition for Change used to be known as MDC Alliance. The rebranding from MDC Alliance to CCC was made on 22 January 2022 by the party’s National Council ahead of the by-elections on 26 March 2022.
The name MDC Alliance was abandoned after MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora claimed ownership of the MDC brand and all its variants. Mwonzora wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) early this year asking the commission to ban the use of the name by other parties.
