Sanctions Are Hurting Christians, Says AFM President

The president of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe, Bishop Amon Dubie Madawo, has demanded the unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the United States and its allies arguing that the economic restrictions are hurting ordinary people.

James O’Brien, the U.S. State Department’s sanctions coordinator, recently said Zimbabwe’s economic decline was caused by corruption and bad economic policies, and not by sanctions.

He said the U.S.and other Western nations imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe in response to election rigging and human rights abuses.

But speaking during an interview with The Manica Post, Madawo said sanctions are a form of punishment imposed on Zimbabwe after Harare embarked on the land reform programme to redistribute national resources equitably. Madawo said:

The church, as an agent, can comment on anything. It has its own voice on this sanctions story because they are affecting the generality of Zimbabweans.

Buy Samsung, itel, Redmi smartphones in Zimbabwe

WhatsApp: +263715068543

They are an albatross around the neck of Christians and the generality of the population.

There is misinformation that the sanctions are targeted at certain individuals, yet their debilitating impact is affecting all of us. They are affecting the whole nation.

Their victims are innocent people whom we preach to every day and these are people who are not in decision-making positions.

These sanctions are not helping but hurting the people of Zimbabwe. Our country and economy could be doing much better without them.

We cannot secure credit lines and foreign direct investments as a result of these sanctions, meaning they are stifling economic growth.

As church leaders, we are saying the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe must be removed.

It is not wrong for us to demand our liberty in terms of our land, economy and democratic space.

The people of Zimbabwe cannot be subjected to this kind of torture and suffering simply because they took back their land and corrected the racially-induced disproportionate distribution of national resources.

Zimbabwe is an independent nation that should attain its socio-economic self-actualisation. Historically, the land belonged to black people and it was taken away from us, so why should we be punished for correcting a historical injustice?

Why should we suffer for claiming back our land? These sanctions must be removed, they are not for any good to anyone.

Madawo naMakandiwa are Chinhu chaDaddy pfeeee.bootlickers. Inga Smith,s Rhodesia was.under sanctions from 1965 to 1980 but the economy was sound. Kana vari kuurayiwa vakazofunga kudzorera haikona yatove Civil War. Instead of condemning violence ye zanu pf Chidawo na MakNandiwa vari kuto kwishidzira motop

The church should call the two sides and make them understand each other on how the targeted and any other perceived sanctions can be done away with. The blood of Jesus can wash away sins, but it cannot wash away sanctions.

Most of us don't get this sanctions thing well. Smith regime was able to develop because they had the blessings of the USA which probably made it easier for them to bypass those economic restrictions which were imposed on them. Now you find out that the most affected ones are the ones advocating for these illegal sanctions. Those who buy American ideology will continue to suffer just like libyans or Ukrainians. Wether you like it or not anyone in support of sanctions will die a bitter man. Ask yourself why you so active in pindula comment section? It's because you cannot afford data bundles and that has to tell you something. Make deep analysis before you go against your gvt because these pink skinned guys see us as trash

do we now attend conferences to hear, politics and stories about politics. What kind of holy spirit will be manifesting in church gatherings that makes preachers of the gospel now prepare church sermons filled with politics ideas or politics doctrine in it. What happened to church gatherings without any political agenda involved? Revelation 2:4-5 "... I have this thing against you, why have you fallen from your first love, return to the heights you have fallen..."

Rhodesia survived ànd flourished under sanctions. I have seen video clips of Zanu's Edgar Tekere kuUN summit calling for stiffer sanctions on Smith yet Rhodesia kept on developing and they enjoyed. Even now all the infrustructure we are failing to renovate or upgrade was built in Smith's time. In as much as we wanted liberty from Smith's segregative laws against blacks it is now worse than during his time. The monster in Rhodesians just transformed into our current Zanu and it is destroying all that it ever built in Rhodesia. Chimurenga chava kuita sechakarwirwa mahara.

I have a very short and crispy comment on Bishop Amon Madawo of AFM Church in Zimbabwe. The good Bishop is misrepresenting God by [EXCHANGING THE TRUTH OF GOD WITH THE LIE]. READ ROMANS 1 VS 25. The good Bishop must keep to the pulpit and leave politics to the politicians. [ DO NOT MISREPRESENT GOD JEHOVER IN POLITICS, BUT CORRECTLY REPRESENT HIM AT THE PULPIT ]. [ [ SHANDUKO NEHUTONGI HWEJEKERERE ZVAVE PEDYO ]. Yours sincerely William Sonboy CHINEMBIRI [THE BUSH LAWYER4CCC].

As a sovereign and independent country why do we continue to moan kuti policies in a country that we "liberated" ourselves from are hampering our progress? Is this not a shameful confession that are better as a British colony than as a liberated country. Why can't we focus on us and build our country from withing like what our purpoted friends China and Russia do? Why can't we make good use of our land and minerals to clobber these sanctions and prove to the West that we are not cry babies. 42 years after "Independence" or is is "End of Dependence" we still blame the West for our regression as a country Vene venyika munanyara. Vakai ka nyika yacho.

Sanctions are very simple to remove, tell Mnanagwa that he must reform and stick to good leadership ethics and also allow the diapora vote. To Zimbabweans, we now know quite well , the consequences of voting someone who is on sanction list, if you vote for Mnanagwa you're voting for sanctions... a vote for Zanu means you're not patriotic, you are just asking for sanctions. 2023 vote wisely, vote for change.👆❎

Namatai ka masanctions acho aende? Or close your money making religious organisations that keep on fleecing the congregants of their hard earned cash use God's word. AFM, another church defeated by and now surviving at the mercy of satan. I feel pity for gullible congregants who still follow apostate leaders such as this Dubie Dude. Singing for government support in his political career as president of AFM. Don't be lopsided. Speak also of the injustices, corruption, human rights abuses and the violent ascension to power of the man from whose hand you are surving. It is obvious this AFM is now one of this age's apostate church clubs.

Am a believer but what some of our spiritual father's are doing it's not how it used to be done before. Why should we preach politics than repentance, Why should it be about pleasing others than pleasing God Himself. Why can't the church stand for true gospel and preach about peace, and unity in the body of Christ, than what's happening now. Heaven is watching
