Barca Vs Atletico Madrid: An "Unusual Hattrick" For 38-year-old Dani Alves
A 38-year-old Brazilian international, Dani Alves, was red-carded on Sunday when Barcelona clashed with Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou in a LaLiga match.
He was given the marching orders following Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review for a foul on Yannick Carrasco.
The red card came when he had already made an assist and scored for the Catalans who eventually won the match 4-2.
Only three players have scored, assisted and been sent off in a LaLiga game since the start of the 2016/17 season. These are:
Victor Ruiz vs Athletic Club (2017); Mikel Merino vs Espanyol (2019) and the man himself, Dani Alves vs Atlético (2022).
Atletico were the first to score through Yannick Carrasco.
Jordi Alba equalled terms almost immediately. He got the assist from Dani Alves.
Gavi later headed in a cross from Adama Traore to give Baraca a 2-1 lead.
Ronald Maraujo made it 3-1 just before halftime.
Dani Alves made it 4-1 but Luis Suarez scored against his former club to make it 4-2.
This is the first time Atletico Madrid have conceded 4+ goals in a LaLiga game for the first time since December 2012 (also vs. Barcelona).
Gabon striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Barca from Arsenal on a free transfer, made his debut replacing Adama Traore who is back at Camp Nou on loan from Wolves.
