Zimbabwe Republic Police Speak On Raids Conducted In Harare

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed raids carried out in Harare on Wednesday. ZRP say these raids were not targeting, specific individuals or personalities but criminal activities based on the information given to the Police. There are reports that one of the premises raided belongs to Walter Magaya, the leader of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries. In a statement seen by Pindula News, Police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said one suspect has been arrested. Reads the statement:

RAIDS BY THE ZIMBABWE REPUBLIC POLICE ON SOME PREMISES IN HARARE

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that acting on credible information and ongoing investigations on suspicious criminal movements, the Police obtained warrants of search and seizure leading to raids at three (03) premises in Harare today.

As a result one suspect, Ashref Kara of number 66 Argyle Road, Avondale West, Harare has been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition: The firearms are listed as follows:

  • One Plainsman Pistol.
  • One Gabilondoy CIA Victoria Pistol with a magazine of four rounds.
  • One Auto Pistol 6.35mm with a magazine of three rounds.
  • One Brevete Autoque Pistol, CZ magazine with one round and a pistol holster.

The suspect is facing, charges of contravening provisions of the Firearms Act, Chapter 10:09.

The Police also conducted raids at number 1.8 Cuba Road, Mt Pleasant and 261 Phase 1, Sandton, Goodhope, Harare. These raids were not targeting, specific individuals or personalities but criminal activities based on information given to the Police.
