Woman Loses Cash, Passport To Female Con-artists In Africa Unity Square
A woman lost US$40, ZWL$300 and a passport to two female con-artists while walking in Africa Unity Square in Harare’s city centre on Friday afternoon.
The woman told H-Metro that the two women pretended as if they had picked some money in front of her before asking her to go with them to a nearby public toilet to share the money equally with her. She said:
I actually saw real money and these two women told me tanhonga tese.
FeedbackThey asked me to go into the toilet to count the money but first I had to leave my wallet and cell phone with them.
But, when I got into the toilet ndaona muchi sox muya mave nemapepa and when I returned the women were nowhere to be seen.
Without a phone, the woman had no way of contacting her relatives and well-wishers came to her rescue and phoned her kin to come and pick her up.
Witnesses told the publication that the woman was the third victim of the day at Africa Unity Square as two men had earlier been conned using the same tactic.
