Zimbabwe Weather Report And Forecast 07 - 09 June 2022
The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has released a weather report and forecast for the period 07 – 09 June 2022. Pindula News presents the report and forecast below:
PREAMBLE
ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON TUESDAY 07 JUNE 2022 VALID UNTIL THURSDAY 09 JUNE 2022.
It was briefly cloudy and cold over Masvingo, southern parts of the Midlands, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan Provinces this morning. However, by afternoon much of the country had clear skies with a light easterly breeze making it cool. Meanwhile, a thin cloud system is slowly approaching from northern Mozambique into the north-eastern parts of the country.
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY 08 JUNE 2022
Manicaland Province should be briefly cloudy and cold for much of the day. All other areas are expected to be sunny and cool by day, though cold in the morning with a chance of moderate ground frost in frost-prone areas such as Gweru, Henderson, Kadoma, Kezi and Matopos.
IMPACTS
• Wintry conditions both night and day may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza and fever, as well as asthma, being prevalent.
• Ground frost may negatively affect both plants and livestock.
• Nights, when the sky is clear, are actually much colder than those where cloudy conditions persist.
• Veld fires tend to be uncontrollable during windy periods and can destroy vast tracts of land and property as well as pose a threat to human and animal life.
ACTIONS TO TAKE
• Dress appropriately to keep warm especially overnight, and ensure vulnerable members of society are warm as well.
• Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustments made.
• Farmers in areas prone to ground frost should undertake frost prevention measures such as overhead irrigation of crops usually at night /early in the morning.
• Some may opt to use braziers to keep warm; however, this should be done in well-ventilated areas/rooms as it leads to carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Do not leave open fires unattended, wind gusts may cause them to spread and cause damage to flora and fauna. Remember we are in the Main Fire Danger Season.
