A memorial prayer service for slain Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Moreblessing Ali has degenerated into chaos amid reports that the home of ZANU PF councillor for Seke Rural only as Maoresa has been burnt.
ZimLive reports that suspected ZANU PF supporters attempted to disrupt the gathering, leading to clashes. Said the publication:
HappeningNow The home of Zanu PF councillor for Seke Rural, identified only as Maoresa, is reportedly on fire following clashes between Zanu PF and CCC supporters
Meanwhile, CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, says ZANU PF supporters are burning people’s homes. Said Mahere:
We are at Moreblessing Ali’s funeral in Nyatsime. We are receiving reports that Zanu PF has started burning down people’s homes. Details to follow.
Clashes reportedly started Sunday when ZANU PF officials reportedly stormed the funeral of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime demanding that mourners should leave the place and go to St Mary’s instead.
The CCC party accuses ZANU PF of abducting and killing Ali, claims which the ruling party is denying.
