Willard Katsande Narrates "Horrific" Hijacking Incident In Soweto

Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande said he thought he was going to be killed during a recent hijacking incident in South Africa where he is based.

The Sekhukhune United midfielder was hijacked by three armed men near Southgate Mall in Soweto last Tuesday.

Katsande was with his nephew, Kelvin Katsande (22) when he was attacked by three men around 6 PM.

Narrating his ordeal to South African publication FarPost, Katsande said he had a gun pressed against his skull and pulled by his privates. He said:

We were near Southgate Mall, I was standing outside the car, and my nephew was inside.

Three men came to us with guns; they aggressively put me down. They dragged me to my knees on the tar; I have bruises from the dragging.

I could feel the barrel of a gun at the back of my head and thought that was the end of my life.

The other one pulled me with my private parts. It was a horrific experience.

The hijackers took Katsande’s BMW X6, three iPhones and R9700 cash. The tracking company, however, recovered the car, although he was told it had been damaged. Added Katsande:

We went to the police station and alerted the tracking company. I’m told the car was recovered in Eldorado Park, but they say it’s damaged. I’ll see it later on.

… I’m not okay mentally; this happens a few months after that road rage incident.

In August 2021, Katsande was involved in a road rage incident in Roodepoort on the West Rand.

He was ambushed and assaulted by an unknown man.
