The President of Zimbabwe’s National Chiefs Council, Senator Fortune Charumbira, has been elected the new president of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).
Charumbira won with 161 votes while 31 abstained and 11 ballots were spoiled. PAP confirmed Charumbira’s victory in a tweet:
Hon. Senator Fortune Charumbira has been elected as the president of the Pan-African parliament. Elections are currently taking place in Midrand.
