The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported that a Chegutu service station lost over US$15 000 dollars to five armed robbers on Wednesday 3 August 2022 (yesterday).
A police statement seen by Pindula News says the robbers were armed with pistols, an axe, a button stick and a pair of handcuffs. Reads the police report:
Police in Chegutu are investigating an armed robbery case which occurred on 03/08/22 at a service station near Chegutu Shopping Centre.
Five unidentified suspects who were travelling in an unregistered Toyota Mark X vehicle, armed with pistols, an axe, a button stick and a pair of handcuffs attacked six security guards before breaking into the main office.
The suspects stole a safe with US$ 15 246 cash.
Police appeared to members of the public who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the robbers to contact any nearest Police Station.
Cases of armed robberies have been on the rise in recent years triggering fear among members of the public and the business community.
Some robbers attack commuters, motorists, and mobile money transfer service providers while some invade houses.
