A Zimbabwean father based in South Africa is reportedly on the run with his daughter, without the mother’s permission.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said they are looking for Zvidzai Genius Matavikwa, who allegedly took his two-year-old daughter Mika Zonke on Saturday, July 2, from his ex-girlfriend.
Matavikwa was supposed to return the child later that day but never did and attempts to find him since then have been unsuccessful. Said SAPS:
Nyanga Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit are seeking assistance from the public in a bid to locate the wanted suspect.
According to reports, a Zimbabwean foreign national, known as Zvidzai Genius Matavikwa took his two-year-old daughter Mika Zonke on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from his ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of the victim.
He told her that he intended to spoil his daughter for the day. Zvidzai never returned his daughter as agreed, after he left with her.
Attempts to make contact with Zvidzai, in a bid to return the daughter, were unsuccessful.
The mother of the daughter reported the incident on Thursday, July 7, 2022, and a missing person’s report was filed for further investigation.
