Govt Says Bonus Will ONLY Be Paid Based On Performance Appraisal Reports

The government has said the payment of bonuses will be with effect from this year, 2022, paid based on individuals’ performance.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has since issued a circular to line ministries to that effect.

In a letter seen by Pindula News, the permanent secretary of Health and Child Care, Jasper Chimedza urged the senior management in the health sector to ensure that members in the sector are appraised. Reads the letter addressed to The Chief Directors, Provincial Medical Directors, Acting Chief Medical Directors, Directors, and Deputy Directors:

PAYMENTS OF ANNUAL BONUSES FOR THE YEAR 2022.

The above matter refers.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued a circular notifying of the changed method of payment of bonuses and other performance-related awards in the Civil Service.

It is advised that with effect from this year, 2022, bonus will ONLY be paid based on performance appraisal reports.

Considering the foregoing, kindly ensure that all members of staff from Deputy director level and below are appraised as per the standard requirements. You will be notified as to when to submit the consolidated performance ratings at the appropriate time.

This is nonsense to divide and rule civil servants. What performance are they going to measure when the goals were not set earlier at the beginning of the year. Ngavangoti havadi kubhadhara bonus kana kuti havana mari yacho. Is bonus not part of the employment contract benefits?

This is hogwash . Trying to force particularly teachers to join a puppet workers Union ( E D). .Those who wld be represented by other workers Unions wld be considered incompetent. Remember e Judge who was said to be incompetent did not save e interest of Zanu ,but she was executing her job diligently .

if tht is the case then it should be implemented at executive level.that would mean tht the way this ecpnomy is performing the president and minister should be paid based on tht.

It's a myth that bonus is an extra pay given at the end of the year, in fact it's actual what you have worked for. The month is 28 days, if you shed off extra days in each month they total a full month... So bonus /thirteenth cheque is actually your pay you have indeed worked for. It calls for no appraisal. GIVE WORKERS THEIR BONUS.

In the Army there are ranks starting from Recruit, Lance Corpral, Corpral, Sgt, Staff Sgt, Sgt Major, Major, Captain, 2nd Liuetant, Liutenant, Liutenant Colonel, Colonel etc up to the rank of General same in all Security services they have ranks determined ne performance infact all ministries employees have different positions zvichienda nekugona basa. Ranks have nothing to do with performance... we have people in the force who were promoted just because they maintain a good turnout at parades yet pa upstairs pachina. We also have people promoted for gossiping some where promoted for washing and playing wife to big chefs. So actually the performance yardstick is not uniform

Performance appraisal is not an event but a long process, advising that it be done now simply means no appraisal at all. It can't be rushed in the remaining days before the end of the year. In other words no bonus payment this year.

It's impossible to appraise a body of workers who work under orders like the army, police, and all civil servants in particular. They have the same performance rating. I tell you no soldier's performance should be rated above his workmates, becoz they work as a team.
