JUST IN: Maud Hunidzarira And Thanks Makore Acquitted Of Tapiwa Makore's Murder

Maud Hunidzarira and Thanks Makore have been found not guilty and acquitted of Tapiwa Makore’s murder after the prosecution withdrew charges against them at the close of the State’s case.

The State failed to provide evidence against the two.

Thanks Makore was arrested in 2020 and accused of sending his twin brother Tapiwa Makore Snr and Tafadzwa Shamba to kill his nephew promising to pay them US$1 500.

He was released on a $10 000 bail by the High Court and was rearrested a few hours later on allegations of defeating or obstructing the course of justice by destroying evidence.

It was alleged back then that when Tapiwa Makore (Snr) was arrested in September 2020, Thanks allegedly drove to Murehwa Police Station where he asked for keys to Tapiwa Makore’s house.

Thanks reportedly went to the house and allegedly destroyed and burnt some evidence which linked Tapiwa Makore Snr to the commissioning of the crime.

Hunidzarira, known for brewing traditional opaque beer in the area and a neighbour of the Makores, was arrested in Budiriro after she was spotted washing a blood-stained carpet.

Tapiwa was allegedly murdered by his uncle in September 2020 in Nyamutumbu village, Murehwa.

According to one alleged confession, the boy was drugged, killed and mutilated so that they could sell his body parts to a witch doctor for US$1 500.

The family faced continued grief after enduring over six months without burying his body. Tapiwa Makore’s head could not be located until the time of his burial.

It is disturbing to note that the State failed to produce convincing evidence against the duo but knowing very well that they committed this crime.This issue really needs to be reinvestigated and those representing the state demonstrated gross incompetence or they were bribed to cover up for the case

Let me remind my friends that [THE LAW IS AN ASS]. What the rest of us are doing is merely analysing the case. There is noone of us defending these accused persons. Lawyers who go to court are lawfully employed to to defend cases in our courts. Infact for your information, there is no case which goes to the High Court in ZImbabwe without a defence lawyer. If the accused in a case of murder is so poor that he can not afford a lawyer, government gives the accused a lawyer because according to Zimbabwe law he should be defended. High Court is different from a magistrate court where an accused person can defend himself. On the question of DNA, citizens are waiting to hear if DNA was processed. Prosecutor shall produce that piece of evidence during the trial. A DNA should have been conducted on blood which was on those clothes against Tapiwa' body fluids. When it comes, to investigating such cases we are still far away since in such cases you, need dna, finger prints etc the court works on evidence not just beating up, people for false confessions, i see similarities with livingstone case

The state withdrew its case against Hunidzarira and Thanks Makore because of lack of evidence. Evidence against the duo was far fetched. Tapiwa Makore and Shumba are going to be put to their defense That is they have already denied committing the offence and they will now defend their denial. [ ASI ROPA REMUNHU RINOPFUKA ].
