Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has said signing Kylian Mbappe now makes no sense, according to Managing Madrid.
He made the remarks right after the conclusion of the Ballon d’Or ceremony where Karim Benzema won the prestigious award. Perez said:
I’m not even paying attention to the rumors. We had a good summer of rumors and gossip and all of that is pointless now. Signing him makes no sense for us now, our attackers are developing in a great way. Vinicius and Rodrygo are two formidable players. I see them both as potential Ballon D’Or winners, we have to see how they keep developing. We’re only focusing on the players we have now and we’re doing just fine. Camavinga, Valverde, Militao and Tchoauemeni are young and have a promising future ahead of them.
Real Madrid have for many seasons tried to sign Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain and were very close to signing him last summer but the young world champion opted to stay after being offered a lucrative which would give him power over many issues at the club.
Perez’s remarks come amid rumors that Mbappe wants to leave PSG over an alleged breach of the contract he signed barely months ago.
The French international told reporters after PSG’s 1-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday that he never asked for his “departure in January.”
