ZANU PF Spends Millions Of Dollars On Cars, Regalia, Welfare Of Its VIPs

The ZANU PF party has spent millions of dollars on cars, party regalia and improving the welfare of its VIPs ahead of the 2023 elections.
The ruling party spent ZW$1.8 billion and over US$4.8 million from January to September on staff salaries, gratuities, transport, health and allowances for party bigwigs among other expenses, NewsDay reported citing a report by the party’s central committee (CC) report to the 7th National People’s Congress held in Harare last week.
The report states that in 2017, the party only had 45 vehicles and now has 531 vehicles, the largest fleet in ZANU PF’s history. Read the report:
In 2018, the Zanu PF party acquired an additional 438 new motor vehicles bringing the fleet size to 486.
In 2020, the department of transport and social welfare received 15 new Isuzu double cab vehicles from the party treasury, bringing the fleet size to 501. Between December 2021 and September 2022, his Excellency the President and first secretary of the Zanu PF party, Comrade Dr Ed Mnangagwa donated 30 double cab vehicles to the party bringing the current fleet size to 531. Accordingly, the department of transport and social welfare remains grateful to leadership for this, and other interventions that saw unprecedented acquisition of the biggest motor vehicle fleet in the history of the party.
The report claimed that Zanu PF sources its funds from membership subscriptions, donations, allocations from the government under the Political Parties Finance Act and “investments”.
In the report, ZANU PF also acknowledged that the majority of Zimbabweans were not formally employed but earned their living from the informal sector, which it described as the “new mass employer.”
This is an indictment on President Mnangagwa who told delegates at his inauguration in 2017 that he would create “jobs, jobs, jobs.”

Ini l knew kuti it was going to be either Mnangwara Emmerson or Sydney Sekeramayi. I remember discussing the issue with my dad in 2005. Dad vangu used to be in the army too. He even said he wished Sekeramayi would lead because aiva better in term of hutsinye. He even mentioned kuti Mugabe anogona kuzobviswa pachigaro by a coup.
Years later, l saw it in a dream kubva kutanga kudonha kwaMugabe, and all that happened parestore legacy. I remember telling family at home. People said haaa wakutityisa iwe. That was 2014 and l wrote it down. Today tirikuona manifestation and l know what is coming basing on fact that the other part was fulfilled.

I personally never celebrated restore legacy. Not because l liked Mugabe. But l knew what we were getting into. People thought l was a persimist but today some say chimhamha maioneswa.

As a government just create an environment in which everyone flourishes in whatever area they choose to engage. Ada mining sewe must be able to get access to it not on a party ticket. Ada kuti chikoro chimusimudze odaro. Ada kusimuka nekutengesa hembe odaro. That is what a government is in place for.

Is this fair? No it's not. But that's politics. It's never fair. Is this good? It depends on which side you support. But for them it's good.
In fact Zanu PF is going far. They are serious about power & their extravagance shows their determination to hang on for another five years. They have done all the constitutional formalities. The point persons in every province, district & ward are well catered for. They have the transport in place, so they have a head start.
When they rig elections, they will say to their SADC & African Union Colleagues, we were better organised, unlike our opponents. Obviously, SADC & AU will believe & endorse them. Remember, AU & SADC are already calling for the lifting of sanctions.
On the other hand the CCC, despite its popularity, appears to be highly disorganised, at least for the time being. Only one person is taking centre stage. Outsiders who do not understand the evils of Zimbabwean politics will believe the propaganda that the CCC is a disorganised one-man-band.
In politics, it's vital to always be ahead. For now Zanu Pf is ahead. Politics is expensive. You can't cry foul for being out-spent by your opponents. Money buys power. Money buys the right people & the right institutions for retaining power.
