Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Malawi, Nancy Saungweme, is the new Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Malawi.
The Dean is the senior diplomatic representative of the diplomatic corps who has served the longest in a country. Seniority depends on the date of arrival in the capital coupled with the official presentation of credentials.
In a statement on Thursday, 8 December, the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Lilongwe said Saungweme takes over from Iwakiri Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to Malawi who has completed his tour of duty. Reads the statement:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe and has the honour to inform the latter that His Excellency Mr. Iwakiri Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Malawi and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, has completed tour of duty.
In this regard, Her Excellency Ms. Nancy Saungweme, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Malawi, is the new Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe the assurances of its highest consideration.
