Armed Robber Flees With Groceries
A suspected armed robber fled with a vehicle laden with groceries after the gang pounced on a homestead and tuckshop in Rushinga on Thursday.
In a statement, Police said two of the suspected armed robbers, Kudzai Makwesha (37) and Jairos Chiyangwa (44), were arrested while their accomplice, only identified as Tafadzwa fled with the loot in their get-away vehicle.
The suspects had robbed a homestead at Mushongahande Village and a tuckshop at Chamwa Village. Police said:
Police in Rushinga have arrested Kudzai Makwesha (37) and Jairos Chiyangwa (44) in connection with two cases of robbery which occurred on 22/12/22 between 0010 hours and 0110 hours, at a homestead at Mushongahande Village and a tuckshop at Chamwa Village where US$275 and ZWL$ 800 cash, groceries and property worth US$2021.00 were stolen.
The second complainant identified the suspects at Marymount Business Centre, leading to their arrest.
The first complainant was shot with a pistol on the ankle and is admitted at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the other suspect, only identified as Tafadzwa fled with the loot, in the suspects’ get-away vehicle, a Mazda Bongo, registration number AFB 5825. Investigations are underway.
