Three robbery suspects, including an ex-offender who was released from prison last year, have been arrested, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
According to a police statement obtained by Pindula News, the suspects were detained after allegedly robbing a shop at the Mudzimu Business Centre in Hurungwe of six cell phones and US$35. Reads the statement:
The ZRP confirms the arrest of Martin Jameson (44) alias Mathew Chimukonde, Anymore Dumbura (42) and Mayor Dzorani (40), in connection with a case of armed robbery which occurred at a shop at Mudzimu Business Centre, Hurungwe, where six cellphones and US$35 cash were stolen.
The arrest led to the recovery of a 0.22 revolver with 24 rounds, a pair of scissors, a car jack, a wheel spanner, and a hammer.
According to police investigations, Martin Jameson was previously arrested and is set to appear before the courts for robberies, thefts, and unlawful access into buildings that happened in Karoi. He has been out on free remand.
The investigations also noted that Mayor Dzorani was released from prison in November 2022 after being found guilty of an unlawful entry into buildings case.
