Football fans in the mining town of Shamva are relishing the prospect of experiencing Premier Soccer League (PSL) football after the the mining town’s flagship team Simba Bhora, secured promotion.
Simba Bhora, owned by mining tycoon Simba ‘Buju’ Ndoro, won the Northern Region Division One last year to earn promotion into the PSL.
The team, which is now being coached by former Dynamos coach Tonderai ‘Stanza’ Ndiraya, will play their home games at Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva, which is currently being renovated to meet PSL standards.
Trymore Bore, a staunch Simba Bhora fan based in Shamva, told Pindula News in a telephone interview that football fans in the nickel-rich town cannot wait for the season to start in March.
We are very excited. We have been supporting this team since it was in Division 2, with the hope that one day we will have Premiership football. It has finally happened and we are excited.
Chamunoda Pukuti, another Shamva-based Simba fan, is looking forward to seeing traditional giants of Zimbabwean football Dynamos, Highlanders and CAPS United, in Shamva.
The idea of seeing the big three playing against out team is mind-blowing, we are really looking forward to it. We will support our team through thick and thin.
In an attempt to strengthen their squad ahead of their debut season in the PSL, Simba Bhora have so far ropped in former Warriors winger Talent Chawapiwa, former Dynamos captain Partson Jaure and Blessing Moyo, previously with defending league champions FC Platinum.
