Australia-based Zimbabwean female footballer Yolanda Kanyai says she is excited about rejoining her former club Darwin Olympic Sporting and hopes the move improves her as a player.
The former Vainona High School student rejoined Darwin from city rivals Port Darwin.
Speaking to Pindula News in an exclusive interview, Kanyai said she is relishing the prospect of rejoining her former club, which competes in the NorZone Premier League. She said:
I’m excited honestly as I get to go back to my “home club” being where my journey started here. I also get to play with my National Rep side mates so that’s huge as we’re not only focused on the league but the National title in November when we go back for finals. So this is a promising season.
Kanyai, who is the only Zimbabwean footballer in the NorZone Premier League, said her goal is to become a better player than she was last year. She said:
My ambition is to be a better player than I was last year and being more useful in the midfield and I’m aiming to be one of the outstanding midfielders this season.
She says she also dreams of representing Zimbabwe and play in the Mighty Warriors when the FIFA ban is lifted.
