OpenBona Mugabe Files For Divorce From Simba Chikore
The daughter of the late former President Robert Mugabe, Bona Nyapudzai Ouma Mugabe, is divorcing her husband Simbarashe Mutsahuni Chikore after nine years of marriage.
Simba and Bona married in 2014 at Mugabe’s Blue Roof mansion, in Borrowdale, Harare, in 2014 and their wedding was broadcast live by ZBC-TV.
The wedding was also attended by African heads of state and government and other high-level dignitaries.
The couple lived at a house that Mugabe donated to them during their wedding along Quorn Avenue in Mount Pleasant, Harare.
Bona filed for divorce under HC 1521/2023 where she said the couple have lost all love and affection for each other and had been living apart for more than nine months. She said:
It is in the best interests of the minor children that Plaintiff is given full custody of the children with the Defendant being granted access to them every alternating weekend from Saturday between 8 am to Sunday 5 pm agreed in advance.
In the event of the granting of the Divorce Decree by the honorable court, it will be just and equitable that the Defendant be ordered to pay maintenance for the minor children in the sum of USD2 700 per child per month until attaining of majority status or they become self-sustaining whichever occurs first.
Bona is 32 while Simba is 46 and the couple has three children from their marriage, two boys aged 7 and 5 and a girl aged 2.
Bona told the court that during the subsistence of their marriage, they jointly as well as severally acquired various movable and immovable properties.
