Supporters Plan To Boycott Matches Over ZIFA Suspension By FIFA

The Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters Association plans to boycott Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches to express their dissatisfaction with Zimbabwe’s suspension by FIFA.

The suspension was a result of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board’s suspension by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) over allegations of misappropriation of funds and sexual abuse of female referees.

FIFA has demanded the reinstatement of the ZIFA board led by Felton Kamambo as a condition for lifting the suspension and allowing Zimbabwe to return to the international football community. Anger and frustration continue to mount against the SRC.

The SRC, led by Gerald Mlotshwa, insists on following internal processes to restore order at ZIFA. However, this has upset supporters who planned a protest against the SRC at the National Sports Stadium. The protest was disrupted by the police for not complying with the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act. Despite this, the supporters remain defiant and plan to take other measures to pressure the SRC to act on the suspension.

Joseph Matawu, the Secretary-General of ZNSSA, stated that supporters are unhappy with the way football is being handled in the country. He said:

Very soon we are going to engage our supporters to boycott PSL matches. We will urge them not to attend PSL matches so that we send a strong message to the authorities that we are not settling for less.

We want international football back to our country as soon as possible. We are also going to engage with the President of the country, Cde E.D Mnangagwa so that he can resolve the ZIFA, FIFA impasse.

The planned boycott would be a blow to local football, which has been regaining its popularity as supporters return to the stadiums.

why boycotting PSL matches.... how big is the soccer supporters association Constituency?? bhora racho vanoda kuritambira kupi? who are the leaders of this grouping? Are the leaders of this organization in support of Sexual Harassment?

So if boycotting the matches is detrimental what is the implication of being suspended from international football?
Observer · 2 years ago
Boycotting matches is not a solution as it will destroy the careers of our local boys and Src will not be moved by that. The players and all stake holders have already been negatively affected by the international ban so local boycott will only damage the sport

FIFA IS CORRECT TO GORVERNWORLD FOOTBALL COZ THE SRC IS TRYING TO POLITICISE OUR BELOVED GAME.THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT FIFA DANCE TO THEIR TUNE WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE.SUPPORTES SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT THEY DO NOT ATTEND GAMES

SRC is constituted in Zim Law , it's mandate is well stipulated in the constitution of the Republic of Zimbabwe. PSL is a different entity from Zifa , why didn't this organization boycott matches when this Zifa was running down the game ,when female officials wre being ****ually abused??? why didn't they boycott???

The state of Football in this country is very disappointing, but I refuse to persuade supporters to engage in boycotting matches. [ CHEST CONTROL, BHORA PASI BABAÀ ]. That would plunge soccer players into further doldrums. The best way is to continuously engage SRC so that they see light. Remember that FIFA is also investigating certain members of the ZIFA referees for offences related to ****ual assault on female referees. [ PANE NYAYA BABA ]. I understand that Kamambo and company are at court now. Why do you not give a chance to our Justice system to take its course ? [THE BUSH LAWYER4CCC ].

So Kamambo has become a big man. More than a problem right. if he had our football at heart also he should have make things right for the funs. all he wants is power & thats a problem. His motive really shows there was something fishy happening at Zifa

Zifa destroyed local football long before SRC intervention. The SRC is trying to reconstitute Zifa so that it is run professionally like they do in South Africa and other countries. During covid SA teams continued to play matches in empty stadia in Zim soccer was suspended completely. The suspended Zifa was doing a disservice to football. Tallented players wishing to play overseas can still do so, a couple of them have been invited for trials abroad under the prevailing conditions. Scouts don't need Zifa to identify talent. Just work hard and all will be good.

You never boycotted matches when Zifa was running down football, when national team players were no being payed on time and had to resort to strikes, when they were made to play international matches without adequate preparation, when the had to travel by road to fulfill fixtures. You never talked about boycotting when national teams were made to play local clubs in preparation for crucial international matches, when players in the diaspora had to bail out Zifa. Now someone has set out to fix the problem you talk of boycotting PSL matches 🤣😅😂🤣😅😜🤣😅😂 zvinoita njere shoma so zvakaoma hazvo
