Twelve (12) people, including the driver, were killed in a road traffic accident when a bus they were travelling on crashed on the 5km peg along the Murammbinda-Chivhu Road on Sunday morning.
ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident, saying the driver lost control of the bus before it veered off the road and crashed.
He said the Harare-bound Timboom Coaches bus had 40 passengers on board. Asst Comm Nyathi said:
12 people, including the driver, were killed when a Timboom bus carrying 40 passengers veered off the road and crashed on the 5km peg along the Murambinda-Chivhu Road.
Police attended the scene and are conducting investigations to establish the cause of the accident.
More details will be released in due course.
In recent years in Zimbabwe road accidents have been attributed to speeding, overtaking error, not giving way, following too close, reversing error, negligent pedestrian/ cyclists and fatigue.
