CCC Issues Update On "Disengagement" From Parliament, Local Authorities

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has given an update on its “disengagement” from Parliamentary and Local Authorities sittings.

On 11 October 2023, CCC announced that its MPs and Councillors would temporarily disengage from official activities in Parliament and their respective councils.

The opposition party made the decision after the Speaker of the National Assembly, Jacob Mudenda, acting on an instruction from Sengezo Tshabangu, expelled 15 CCC MPs.

In a statement released this Thursday, 26 October, CCC’s Gift Siziba outlined the measures taken by the party since 11 October. Reads the statement:

On the 11th of October 2023, the Citizens Coalition for Change announced that it would be disengaging from Parliamentary and Local Authority sittings for a temporary period of 14 days.

This disengagement is one of the measures we have instituted to demand respect for the people’s votes, following the illegal recalls of our MPs, Senators, and Councilors by an imposter.

During this period, the party has taken the following measures:

1. Approached the courts regarding the recalls issue.

2. Engaged the SADC region on the deteriorating political and constitutional situation in Zimbabwe.

3. Engaged Regional and International Parliamentary forums.

4. Engaged citizens to gather input on the next steps needed to restore legitimacy and normalcy to our body politic.

We are pleased to report progress on these measures and would like to inform you that:

1. The High Court will hear the matter of the illegal recalls on an urgent basis on November 2, 2023.

2. The final report of the SADC Electoral Observer Mission has been submitted and will continue to be discussed within the key institutions of the bloc.

3. We have also made progress in our engagement with citizens and other key stakeholders regarding the exercise of our right to peaceful protest, as provided for in our constitution, both locally and in the diaspora.

Now that the temporary 14-day disengagement period has ended, we will continue to monitor progress on our key demands, review our action plans as appropriate, and consult further with key stakeholders.

We urge all our deployees to actively address and attend to the issues faced by our citizens. To that extent, we would like to express our gratitude to all our deployees for their discipline, resilience, fortitude, and dedication to the citizens’ cause.

We also want to thank the citizens for their support and discipline, despite the extreme provocation from the criminal and illegitimate regime currently ruling Zimbabwe.

Tshabangu is in full control of CCC n is playing his moves very well. His main target here is Nero. The recalls are just punches in Nero's face. He has left no room for Nero to manouver rendering him powerless. He recalled mps. .He is the one who will nominate those who will contest the by elections. His next obvious move now is to recall Nero since he has said CCC will boycott. The only option for Nero now is to rebrand

CCC has lost the battle against Tshabangu.Chamisa is only left with only one option which is to change the name of his movement, hold a congress, vote into office people with clearly defined roles, draft a constitution for his movement and finally accept that he lost to ED and hope for the best in 2028. As things stand he is in denial mode, but the sooner he accepts reality the better for him.

Everybody knows that Tshabangu is nothing in CCC including Mudenda and Zanu.A clear indication that there is lawlessness in our motherland. Famba zvako Nero Famba. U're doing yr best under these difficult circumstances.

Ostallos, you are wasting your time talking university and Oxford English. No one cares about that update except your western handlers. That update has nothing to do with the running of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is moving and no going back.

No one cares about the update? How do you know that? Did you consult with the whole 15 million Zim population?

@arafat..politics dzokuvhara iwe. Ccc is doing it's best under harsh conditions...when dealing with a devil, you don't let innocent lives destroyed. You can't walk on dead corpses to state house
YASSER ARAFAT · 1 year ago
@Tafman handina chiri kundivhara apa iwe. CCC is doing nothing at all. As a matter of fact, they need to do nothing because it has become very apparent kuti you do not have the facts to stand aginst Tshabangu. CCC is nothing but a seriously disoriented outfit that lacks the political acumen to stand against an ordinary guy just coming out of the blue and start recalling their MPs. Shape up or ship out.
Yasser Arafat · 1 year ago
That statement is just a lot of unnecessary English which in short means the CCC has been forced to eat a humble pie and they are going back to parliament. Effectively this makes Tshabangu the Victor because he told them that if they continue to abscond sittings beyond the sanction given by Parliament they would be recalled. The MPs are already protecting their jobs in the name of "Addressing and attending to the issues of our citizens" Chamisa is losing control of this project and more fatal blows must be expected from Tshabangu, he is just about to strike again. Chati homu chareva.
