Baba Harare Changes Name To King David
Musician Braveman Chizvino has changed his stage name from Baba Harare to King David following his transition from the Jiti genre to Gospel music.
The new name was revealed in the recently released music video “Ngoma” by Ashy Anointed (Hannok), in which he features. The song expresses gratitude and praise to the Lord.
“Titambe saDavid akatamba kusvika mai vapopota. (Let us dance like David danced until his mother complained),” he shared on his Facebook page.
In an interview, King David, who describes his spiritual transformation as “being born again,” said that his name change reflects the significant changes in his life over the years. He said:
It is the name aligned with my brand now, I cannot still use the old name as I have been born again. The path I am in now requires change and it had to start with the name.
Meanwhile, a social media user, Savheya veFashion, has alleged that King David’s wife is behind the changes he has experienced and warned that he may one day regret following her advice.
According to the X (formerly Twitter) user, King David has shown that he is under the influence of his wife. He wrote:
One man down, Baba Harare proved that he is being ruled by his beautiful wife, it’s a pity… He was instructed to de-rasta, he accepted… He was instructed to repent and went to his wife’s church, he accepted… He was instructed to change his music genre from Jiti to Gospel, he accepted… He was instructed to change his name from Baba Harare to King David, he accepted… He was instructed to marry and wed with her, he accepted… Next, he is going to celebrate this year’s Christmas kumba kwemukadzi, fair enough… No mentioning wardrobe change, furniture changes etc.
