Several Cambridge O-Level candidates at Knowstics Academy in Mutasa had their results withheld because the school failed to pay US$22,000 in exam fees to the British Council.
Acting Manicaland Provincial Education Director (PED), Richard Gabaza confirmed the development to The Manica Post. He said a team has been deployed to investigate the matter.
A circular dated January 16, 2025, addressed to parents and stakeholders, revealed that Knowstics Academy’s corporate rescue practitioner, Bhudhama Chikamhi, initially believed the situation was under control, causing a delay in communication. Part of the circular reads:
The purpose of this communique is to advise parents and stakeholders that British Council has not released the Form Four Cambridge results due to the fact that the former management of the school appear to have embezzled the examination fees. The examination fees paid by the parents were not remitted to the British Council.
I have been having meetings with the officials of British Council, and was hoping to resolve the matter so that they could release the results today (January 16) at 9am, but we ended up spending the entire day having discussions with the officials, and up to now (11pm), I am still waiting to get their final position regarding release of the results…

The reason for the delay in communicating this matter to the parents and stakeholders was due to the fact that I believed the matter was under control, given that I negotiated the release of the Advanced Level results.
The British Council released the A-Level results and was expecting that they were going to do the same with the O-Level results, especially after we had a long meeting with the officials, after which I subsequently effected a part payment of the outstanding amount.
The British Council regional head of communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, Chengetai Mujakachi said the school owes the council US$22 000 in outstanding examination fees.

What I don't fathom about this generation is why they're always negative about everything.
This isn't just a generalized statement, this is the case with most Zimbabwean people. This is reality, you see, in Zim if something happens they bring something irrelevant into the picture. Like now, in this article we're informed about what transpired at "Knowstics Academy" then somebody brings ZIMSEC into the picture, suddenly ZIMSEC is at fault, it is to blame.
In Zimbabwe we tend to blame other people for our shortcomings. If we fail to attain our goals in life we blame our parents, but most of us we blame the government. Sometimes **** or Ndebeles are to blame because of jobs.
You check what, ZIMSEC is not the problem, the problem is the people. I don't know why people detest ZIMSEC this much. We wrote it, and passed it. And we probably write better English than some of you, who detest it so much. ZIMSEC ain't the problem, it's just another examination board.
What you afford you write whether Cambridge or ZIMSEC, you cut according to size. What matters at the end of the day is that you passed. All these certificates are international, you can use them anywhere in the world. Be it job application, varsity application, and etcetera. The same Quadratic formula in ZIMSEC is the same in Cambridge, same applies to the vowels in English, they are just the same in ZIMSEC and in Cambridge. With ZIMSEC you can teach a Cambridge student and vice versa.
You find that the people who are negative about this ZIMSEC don't have any O'levels, they don't even have a Cambridge certificate. Don't be negative about any examination board check if it accredited. Acquire knowledge. Do your ZIMSEC, do Cambridge, advance your career, in an American varsity, British varsity, or wherever in the world.

Don't be emotional.. We were there overseas . Are you trying to saying zimsec certificate is recognized as an international certificate.. Where exactly??

UK, Canada, USA as for me I used it in Canada getting into one of the Universities. Finished my course now working etcetera. Am not emotional am just relaying the truth to people.
Do you actually know there are different examination boards all over the world? But you find people migrating and working in another country other than their own, have you ever wondered and asked yourself what academic credentials would be they using? In Zimbabwe there's Zimsec O'level at South Africa there's Matrix do you know you child can continue with education that side or even in Botswana? Am not an Advocate for Zimsec but it just nice to know the truth. But really this you know, you can find good Zimbabwean doctors in the UK, S.A, U.S.A, they have Zimbabwean qualification. What did you major in? What's your occupation? Which organization did you work for? And considering you're Zimbabwean, how old are you, and which academic credentials or certificates rather did you use, do be considered for that post overseas?
