Transport Ministry Says Viral Pothole Photo Not from Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development (MOTID) has said a photo circulating on social media, showing three people posing in a pothole, was not taken on any part of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway, as has been claimed.
In a statement issued on Monday afternoon, MOTID acknowledged that some sections of the highway are in urgent need of rehabilitation.
However, the ministry asserted that the images in the post do not correspond to any part of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway. The statement reads:
It has come to our attention that a social media post is circulating, showing 3 people posing in a pothole on a road claimed to be part of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway.
While we acknowledge that certain sections of the highway are in dire need of rehabilitation, the images in the post do not correspond to any section of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway.
The sections requiring urgent attention are currently being addressed through a collaborative effort between the Department of Roads and Bitumen World.
Work is already underway, with teams camped in Hwange, Halfway, and Insiza to ensure the road is rehabilitated efficiently.

The last time I saw such a crater on the road was during the war of liberation after a landmine planted by the guerillas exploded on the road. The Minister could be fighting his own war by planting landmines on the roads built by Ian Douglas Smith. Kukaurisa mabhunu.

Comrade Minister, you have failed. That road is in need of rehabilitation - period. No amount of justification can remove the urgency needed to fix this road. We have heard of how bad this road has been from high-profile international visitors and no action has been taken. Instead of wasting tax payers money paying for non value adding contracts awarded to the so called philanthropists, let's do the honorable thing and allocate resources to developing our country.

Macadamization at this level for the Byo Vic falls road its not a solution. The reaponsible department to reconstitution the highway, which involves completely rebuilding the road's foundation, drainage system, and asphalt surface.
Macadamization is something to be done at local roads not highways worse still route used for tourist destinations.
The issue is not about the picture the issue is about thus how the road looks like
