CAPS United Player Transfer list 2015
With the coming in of a new coach Mark Harrison, CAPS United Football Club was largely expected by their legion of fans to boost their squad following an unimpressive season of 2014 in which they walked away empty handed failing to provide any real meaningful challenge to their city rivals Dynamos Football Club who went on to clinch the league title for a fourth record consecutive time. With Harrison jumping ship during the 2015 mid-season, new coach Mark Mathe brought in several players to beef up the team and challenge for honours. Below is a full list of players that were brought in and those that left the club.
High Court Ban on Tranfers
During the 2015 mid-season transfer window, The High Court issued a ban on CAPS United against the club engaging in any transfers of their plays to either a local or foreign players.[1] The ban was effected in June after the Green Machine had failed to settle a two-year UD55 000 debt. ZIFA was also said to have been barred from issuing clearances to players from the club and players like Oscar Machapa who had attracted the attention of DRC outfit, AS Vita being affected.
Hardlife Zvirekwi
The player was linked with several unconfirmed reports of intending to leave the club but with the start of the 2015 pre-season training, the player was yet to announce a move away from the Green Machine[2] Zvirekwi's showing up at the club first training session of the season may mean that he may be staying at the club for longer[2]
David Chipala
There was also a lot of uncertainty hovering over the future of Chipala with the Green Machine and speculation had also been rife that the player was contemplating a move away from Makepekepe[2]
Steven Makatuka
After having fuelled speculation pertaining to his future with the green machine, the Makepekepe defender was reported to have eventually shown up for pre-season training which had already kicked off several days prior to his eventual arrival. There had been widespread reports that the player was no longer interested to play for CAPS but his showing up for training meant he had decided to stay with the Green Machine.[3]
Gerald Bello
Bello who had been on a loan spell at Masvingo United Football Club was said to be returning to the club and may be used as a replacement for the departed Tapiwa Khumbuyani.[4]
Jorum Muchambo
Jorum Muchambo ,2015 goalkeeper at the club and is likely to fill in the void left by the departure of Tafadzwa Dube[5]
Takudzwa Mahori
Mahori who was very influential for the Green Machine in their attacking department is reported to have reported for preseason training on time giving strong indications that he will be with Makepekepe for the foreseeable future.
Keith Chikotora
The player was previously with Masvingo United Football Club on a loan spell but was recalled by CAPS during the 2014 season and is most likely to remain part of the CAPS squad during the 2015 soccer season[6]
Ashwald Phiri
Ashwald will not be moving to any club and was also present at the CAPS first pre-season training[7]
Clemence Zimhondi
Will be playing for Makepekepe when the 2015 commences and has not been linked with any move away from the club[7]

Oscar Machapa
Was unveiled in July by Makepekepe after his contract with Dynamos expired mid year.[8] Machapa was initially a CAPS player before going to South Africa. Upon his return he opted to play for Dembare. It was after his stint with the Glamour Boys that he retraced his footsteps back to Makepekepe.
Justice Jangano
He was unveiled at the same press conference as Oscar Machapa in July. He will be playing as a defender.[8]
Method Mwanjali
The versatile former club skipper, returned mid-season after a successful stint in South Africa and was unveiled at a press conference in July by Makepekepe.[8]
Phineas Bamusi
An attacking player who joined CAPS United during the mid-season transfer window from Triangle Football Club.[8] He was part of the group of players brought in to strengthen the squad by club owner Farai Jere.
Michael Mwene
The Zambian left-back joined the Green Machine during the mid-season transfer window following an unimpressive start to the season which saw the team playing second best to city rivals such Dembare.[8]
Antonio Fugo
The midfielder-cum-striker from Equatorial Guinea joined the Cup Kings mid-season. He is a former player with Equatorial Guinea league side Deportivo Mongomo, where he played for two years. Fugo is a student on scholarship.[8]
Outgoing and Released Players
Ronald Pfumbidzayi
Pfumbidzayi also missed the first pre-season week of training which also had been seen as the players unwillingness to stay with the club. The player is also one of the club's sons that is suing fo their signing on fees.[3] The player was speculated to have gone on trials at South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.[9] The player was said to be looking for a new club as he was not happy with the situation obtaining from CAPS.[10] Although Pfumbidzayi stayed with the Green Machine during the first half of the season, he eventually sealed a move Hobro IK IN Denmark.
Kelvin Bulaji
Bulaji having completed a disappointing season with CAPS was rumoured to have crossed the floor to join city rivals Dembare. The move was eventually confirmed, the player even featured for some of the pre-season matches for Dynamos[11]
Dominic Chungwa
Dominic is one of the seven CAPS players that were suing the club due to unpaid signing on fees. The player had missed the first week of the club's pre-season training which had fuelled speculation that the player was eyeing a move away from the Green Machine. Team Manager George Gumbo pointed out that Chungwa was still with the club saying that he had temporarily excused himself from training .[3] He was bought by Dynamos before the start of the season.[12] After a six-month stint with the club, Chungwa was strongly rumoured to have asked for a transfer back to CAPS and negotiations were actually said to have been underway for the transfer of Dominic Chungwa back to CAPS.
Tendai Samanja
Following the expiry of the players contract with the Green Machine, Samanja followed former CAPS coach Taurai Mangwiro to join fellow premiership side, Harare City Football Club[2]
Tafadzwa Dube
Having enjoyed a fairly good season between the posts for Green Machine, Dube was reported to have followed Taurai Mangwiro to Harare City after the expiration of his contract with the club, Mangwiro had been the Caps United coach during the 2014 season[2]
Honey Chimutimunzeve
The striker had been with CAPS United through a loan move he eventually joined Harare City following Taurai Mangwiro to Harare City Football.[2]
Nicholas Alifandika
Was also loan at CAPS together with Chimutimunzeve but left the club at the conclusion of the 2014 season to join Harare City.[2]
Tapuwa Kumbuyani
The forward quit the Green Machine at the completion of the 2014 season and went on to join Bulawayo-based outfit, How Mine Football Club[2]
Thabani Moyo
He joined Bulawayo Chiefs.[13]
Ishmael Thindwa
He returned to Malawi.[13] It was reported that Thindwa had joined Malawian side Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on loan from Caps,[14] but he later refuted the claims and disclosed that he would love to play for the Big Bullets.[15] In July 2015 the player was reportedly cleared by the Football Association of Malawi to play for Mighty Be Forward Wanderers whom he had snubbed.[16]
Charles Mutero
He joined Township Rollers.[13]
Tatenda Munapi
He is on loan at Hartley.[13]
Gerald Phiri
Phiri went down south to join Bidvest Wits.[13]
Ronald Pfumbidza
The former Vice Captain went to Denmark to play for Holbro FC.[13]
Rodreck Mutuma
The player returned to Dynamos at the start of the season.[13]
