Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace
The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe (CCJPZ) is a Catholic non-governmental organization in Zimbabwe. Its work is focused on monitoring, document, and lobby against human rights situation in the country. It was established in 1972 to highlight the plight of the Zimbabwean people during colonial rule. It is most known for its report on Gukurahundi.
Administration
CCJPZ is mandated by the Zimbabwe Catholics Bishops Conference (ZCBC), a Catholic coordinating body of comprising of Zimbabwean Bishops of the church.
Notable Projects
Matabeleland & Midlands Disturbances Report
In March 1997, the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace in Zimbabwe compiled a report on human rights abuses in Matabeleland and the Midlands during the period of 1980-1988 titled Breaking the Silence, Building True Peace.
