Defamation

He was cleared of defamation charges in August 2011 after the State failed to try him within reasonable time. Chinyama is alleged to have called Harare businessman Paul Westwood a self-confessed drug addict. Westwood was testifying in the case in which businessman Temba Mliswa was accused of seizing US$1 million worth of shareholding in Noshio Investments.[1]

Fraud

In April 2002, Chinyama appeared before magistrate Mrs Joyce Negonde on allegations of defrauding a Bulawayo man, Mr Edson Kanda, a senior accounts clerk at the National Railways of Zimbabwe of $260 000. He was remanded out of custody to May 7 2002 on $5 000 bail. Some time in February 2001, Chinyama purchased a fax machine from Kanda. The two, according to the State, agreed on a price of $260 000 and Chinyama offered to make a down payment of $100 000.[2]
