Professor Charles Nherera is a Zimbabwean educationalist. He was the founding Vice–Chancellor of Chinhoyi University of Technology and former chairman of the parastatal Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO). He was arrested for corruption, in connection with the latter post, in 2006 and jailed. The charges were later quashed by the High Court of Zimbabwe.
Background
Prof Charles Nherera is the Founder & Executive Director of the Academic Research Centre (ARC) and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Academic Research. He was the Founding Vice Chancellor of the Chinhoyi University of Technology and former Pro Vice Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa. He is currently a full-time Professor at the University of Zimbabwe, in the Department of Technical Education. Prof Nherera is member of the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) International Development Peer Review College, under the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).[1]

Career
Professor Nherera is currently a full-time Professor in the Department of Technical Education at the University of Zimbabwe. He was the Founding Vice Chancellor of the Chinhoyi University of Technology and former Pro Vice Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa.
Professor Nherera currently holds the following positions in different organisations:
- Member of the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) International Development Peer Review College, under the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).
- Member of the Board of Governors of the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management (ZIPAM).
- Council Member of the Arrupe Jesuit University in Harare.
- Peer Reviewer for the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE).
- Editorial Board Member of the Zimbabwe Journal of Educational Research (ZJER).
- Founder and Executive Director of the Academic Research Centre
Professor Nherera has also held several senior positions in both the academic and corporate sectors, such as:
