Debbie Peters is a Zimbabwean Businesswoman, International investment consultant, business expert, entrepreneur, social media influencer, networker & event speaker. Background

Deborah is an experienced African project finance, energy and fund structure consultant who has worked in South Africa, Zimbabwe, West Africa and the US. She has a strong international network of investors, bankers, government officials and business executives. She spent many years on Wall Street, in project finance for power projects at Eskom in South Africa and private equity for infrastructure projects in Nigeria. She has a business as well as healthcare background and has worked closely with development finance institutions on infrastructure projects. She has a broad background in Project finance, property investment in Africa and worked on the Eskom funding obtaining $6 billion from the World Bank and African Development Bank for power stations. Her consulting projects in Zimbabwe including restructuring local banks in Zimbabwe, setting up an offshore-funds for international investors through a Mauritius structure and a business case for a leasing business for a Zimbabwean insurance giant, amongst other projects. She consulted for the World Bank on their business competitiveness Project with the Ministry of Finance and private sector players in Zimbabwe. She is also focused on the impact of technology, social media and communication on business as well as how to navigate current global trends in banking and finance. She understands different cultures and managing projects in multiple locations.

Since January 2012 she has been the Fund Manager for AMSCO and responsible for setting up the AiQ Capital Real Estate and Hospitality Fund for the client, AiQ Capital, a local Nigerian financial services firm, providing advisory services to its clients, developing skills, managing the strategy of the African SME and providing technical assistance and training.

Deborah Nyasha Peters is a consultant with extensive experience in private equity funds, investments, infrastructure, real estate and healthcare with a focus on Africa. She has set up various off-shore funds in Mauritius, a real estate fund in Nigeria and is currently consulting to banks, multinationals and insurance companies in Zimbabwe as well as advising start-ups and entrepreneurs. She left Zimbabwe to study in the US in 1998 and remained in the Diaspora working in investments until she moved back home to Harare in December 2013. She was previously the fund manager for the AiQ Hospitality and Real Estate Fund in Lagos Nigeria. She moved to Nigeria is December 2011 from South Africa where she worked in project funding for Eskom the giant power utility in South Africa. She had relocated to Johannesburg from New York in 2008 as part of Eskom’s international recruiting drive where she worked on the financing of large infrastructure projects including the $2.5 billion African Development Bank and $3.5 billion World Bank loans for the power stations. She worked closely with various development finance institutions and built up network of contacts financing pan-African projects. She previously spent 8 years on Wall Street in various senior investment roles including managing a multi-billion investment fund for Depository Trust and Clearing Company and managing hedge funds with companies such as JP Morgan and Globeop. While in New York Deborah was an active member of the Diaspora African community; she was a committee member of the Angel Africa Network and she wrote a weekly column for the ‘African Sun Times’ newspaper. She had spent 10 years studying and working in the US before moving to South Africa in 2008.

From July 2008 to May 2010 she was was the senior advisor in the ESKOM treasury in South Africa and was responsible for Project finance, energy service contracts, renewable energy, measurement and verification, resources and business plan, Transformation Plan, pipeline, CO2 savings.
