Arrest

Mahiya was arrested on July 27, 2016 for presiding over a war veterans meeting that denounced Robert Mugabe. At the same meeting, a communiqué was issued to members of the media. Among other things, the communiqué pointed out that war veterans had renounced President Mugabe’s leadership.[1]

Attack on Jonathan Moyo

Mahiya attacked Jonathan Moyo the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Educaction for being a divisive element causing problems in the ruling party and undermining the authority of liberation war heroes.
