Espinah Nhari was a Zimbabwean politician, war veteran and member of Zanu-PF and former Secretary for administration in the party's Women’s League.

Liberation War

Nhari was trained in Zambia at Mukushi under ZIPRA and thereafter worked in the health department at the camp.

Nhari was mostly unknown outside her political party only to come to light in December 2015 when, during one of Grace Mugabe's rallies in Gutu, Masvingo, she made slogans denouncing the Generation 40 (G40) faction in Zanu-PF politics. Nhari chanted a slogan saying: “Down with G40” when the wing’s national executive was being introduced. She was immediately reprimanded and accused of attempting to disrupt the first lady's rally. Zimbabwe Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, Sara Mahoka, Shuvai Mahofa who were present at the rally all reprimanded her for fanning factionalism.[1] 4 days later, on 8 December 2012, the Zanu-PF Women’s League passed a vote of no confidence in Mutsvangwa it's spokesperson, and recommended her expulsion from the party for pushing factional politics and "disrespecting First Lady Grace Mugabe".[2]

Suspension from Zanu-PF

On 3 March 2016 Esphina Nhari, who had a vote of no confidence passed on her by the Women's League for chanting the slogan “Pasi NeG40” at the Gutu last year, was suspended from Zanu-PF for 3 years. The suspension's terms were that she could not hold any party position in those 3 years.[3]

Death

Nhari died in a car head-on accident involving 3 cars on 13 May 2016. The accident occurred at the 135 km peg along Harare Bulawayo road at around 7 pm. She was travelling in a Mazda BT50 car from Kwekwe to Harare. Some Zanu-PF officials in Midlands said she had died a troubled woman because of the suspension from the party. [4] She was declared a provincila heroine and was buried at the Gweru Provincial Heroes Acre.
