Gamuchirai Nhengu is a Zimbabwean born musician based in the United Kingdom. She gained some fame after she sailed through to the judges’ houses round after a successful audition on British music talent show X-Factor. At the audition she performed her own version of the popular classic Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves and wowed the judges and the crowd. She was aged 18 at the time.
Deportation from the UK
In the middle of the X-Factor season that she was participating in, the immigration visa of Gamu's mother expired and the family faced deportation from the UK. Gamu later said on in BBC interview that there had been discrepancies in her mother's visa application renewal that need to be fixed and that the problems were dealt with successfully at a court.
