Gathry Chiredzero,popularly known as Madzibaba Gathry is a Self styled Zimbabwean prophet.In December of 2017 he was arrested for allegedly stalking President Emmerson Mnangagwa. After his arrest he was denied bail and remanded in custody based on the gravity of his alleged crime of stalking the president and using a fake Central Intelligence Organisation identity card. [1]

Allegations

Stalking the president whilst is possession of a loaded gun

It was the State’s case that Chiredzero positioned himself near the podium where President Mnangagwa was speaking at the swearing-in of Cabinet ministers at State House and at the renaming of King George VI Barracks to Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks while in possession of a loaded 38 Special Amadeo Rossi S.A Revolver serial number AA757095.[2]

Controversy

Madzibaba Gathry, appeared in court again in December of 2017, on allegations of running away from paying close to $4 000 maintenance arrears. The State alleged Madzibaba Gathry had been on the run since August of 2017 when he was ordered to clear the arrears by the court..[3]

Through his lawyer Mr John Ndomene, Chiredzero told Harare magistrate Ms Josephine Sande he had paid $200, but had lost the receipts when the military police ransacked his house. The complainant was Tariro Bhinzi and Chiredzero was ordered to pay $150 maintenance per month for one child.
