Surtherland started archery in 1994 and made his international debut in 1995.He is righthanded He shoots with arrows that are 30" long and his draw weight is 42 lbs. he has a win percentage of about 86.^[1] Sutherland is part of the Zimbabwean team for the 2016 Rio Olympics

He also enjoys Cycling. Sutherland usually takes part in Charity competitions and cyclist competitions
