George Nechironga was born and raised in Glen Norah A a Harare Township. He made his name as a football star with CAPS ‘Makepekepe’ United and later with Darryn T FC. He was voted Zimbabwe’s joint-Soccer Star of the Year with Peter Ndlovu in 1990 before coming to play for Bloemfontein Celtic in the NSL era after a spell in Poland. He was an old-school forward whose play revolved around pace, pace and more pace. Some of his best form was already passed him by the time the PSL started, but the five years that he played in the PSL era proved that he was still useful.

Trivia

Nechironga was known to be very humble in the Glen Norah Township. He would casually walk around, meet and greet the fans especially at Glen Norah Chitubu Shopping Centre, and sign autographs even when he played for the Zimbabwe National Team and also when he became the Co-Football Player of the year with Peter Ndlovu.

His Father George Nechironga Snr. was also a Football star in his time.
