Gibson Mazikana is a Zimbabwean resident in the United Kingdom. He was accused of murdering his spouse Emily Munemo at her Hillingdon home on 30 January 2015. Gibson Mazikana is believed to have killed Emily Munemo because he blamed her for his conviction in a police officer assault case. He would later be found guilty and sentenced for the crime.

Past Violent Behavior
On November 23, 2013, police were called to the matrimonial home in Collingwood Road and Ms Munemo alleged that Mazikana had assaulted her. During his arrest, Mazikana attacked a police officer. He was acquitted of assaulting his wife but was convicted of assaulting the officer and was due to be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on the day of the alleged attack on Emily.[2]
Trial & Verdict
Mazikana was arrested on Monday February 2 and subsequently charged with murder. On August 18, 2015 Mazikana was found guilty of the murder of 42 year old Emily Munemo at Southwark Crown Court.[2] He is reported to have used two knives to inflict wounds on Emily. The second knife was used after the first knife had broken leaving the blade embedded in Emily's skull.[2]
Sentence
Gibson was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum 27 years. Investigating detectives are reported to have established that Mazikana had tried to arrange the killing of Emily Munemo but an associate refused to help him. He was also sentenced to 12 months for assaulting a police officer and four weeks for breaching bail conditions. These sentences would run concurrently with the murder one.[3]
