After making attempts to interview Moyo the scene turned ugly as he refused to have the interview. With their efforts hit the brick wall, the three journalists began to take photos of the accused. This resulted in members of Moyo's church assaulting the journalists and threatening to confiscate their phones and cameras which they had used to take photos and videos.[1]

Calls for Eviction

In December over 100 villagers gathered at Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Precab Farm demanding that Moyo be evicted from his farm accusing him of being cruel to his neighbours and their livestock.[2] Moyo is neighbour to Mnangagwa.[1]

Lawsuits

In 2010, Moyo accused Senior Assistant Commissioner Nonkosi Ncube of causing him “trauma, embarrassment, stress, anxiety, injury to his name and loss of a farm” by making false, wrongful and malicious allegations against him, leading to his wrongful arrest. He launched an unsuccessful lawsuit of US$120 000.[3] The two shared a farm in Sherwood, Kwekwe, allocated to them under the land reform programme.[3]

Again in 2015, Moyo also sued Chief Samambwa and his seven subjects for $300 000 over allegations of defamation after more than 500 resettled farmers from Sherwood in Kwekwe staged a peaceful demonstration at Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa's farm seeking his eviction.[4] Moyo claimed that Chief Samambwa and his subjects made defamatory statements against him when they staged a demonstration against him and petitioned Mnangagwa, accusing him of sending his workers to brutalise and sometimes kill their livestock when they stray into his farm.[4]
