Jenfan Muswere is currently serving as the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services in Zimbabwe. He was appointed to this position on September 11, 2023. Previously, he held the position of Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services. Before his promotion to Minister, he served as the deputy minister in the same ministry. His promotion came about when Kazembe Kazembe was reassigned to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage on November 8, 2019.

Service/Career

Political

Jenfan Muswere was born and raised in a family that supported ZANU PF. He started his political career as a member of the Youth League in 1995 and worked his way up through the ranks. He held various positions such as Secretary for Indigenization in Harare Province until 2017. He then became the Vice Secretary for Finance in the Manicaland Province and served as a committee member for the Youth League. He also held the role of Provincial Secretary for ICT in the Main Wing and is currently a member of the Central Committee.

In 2018, under the Second Republic led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Makoni West, serving until 2023. He was re-elected for the same constituency from 2023 to 2028. He was part of the Great Escape team and attended the Politburo as an assistant expert on the Blue Ocean Strategy.

In 2018, Jenfan Muswere was appointed by President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa as the Deputy Minister for ICT, Postal and Courier Services. He was later promoted to the Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, serving from 2019 to 2023.[2]

In 2020, he was elected as the Chairman of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU). After the 2023 elections, he was appointed as the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services.[3]

During his tenure as the Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, some key milestones were achieved under the leadership of President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa. These include the National Development Strategy 1, which focuses on a working Digital Economy, the ICT Policy for 2023 to 2028, the Smart Zimbabwe Master Plan for 2020 to 2030, and the National Broadband Plan for 2020 to 2030. Other achievements include the Cyber and Data Protection Act, the National Learning Strategy, the Smart Health-telemedicine initiative, and the establishment of Data Centers and ICT gadget factories in Zimbabwe.

Jenfan Muswere also had a corporate career, working as a Projects Executive, Head of Business Technical and Training, General Manager for Coal, Brick Investments, and holding director positions in the transport, construction, and ICT sectors. He also managed infrastructure flagship projects worth USD$300 million.
